After the ch4, yo twice, push hook through next stitch and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops twice, leaving 2 loops on hook, do it again by yo twice, push hook through same stitch and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops twice, yo and pull through remaining 3 loops, then ch4 and anchor it with a sc in the next stitch to finish petal.

Abbreviations- ch-chain, sc-single crochet, slst-slip stitch, yo-yarn over, st- stitch, tr2tog-treble 2 together.

Flower, make 7. With yellow or pink yarn ch6, join with slst to 1st ch, forming a ring.

1st round. ch1, sc 9 around ring, cut yarn leaving a 2″ tail and tie on magenta yarn with a knot. continue with slst to the ch1. (10 st)

2nd round. ch4, tr2tog* in next sc, ch4 and anchor it with a sc in the next stitch. Do this 5 times for 5 petals, fasten off. Leave all ends hanging, do not trim or weave in.

Push the point of a pen down through the center of a flower and all the way through, leaving pen flush or sticking up 1/8″ at the top. Take the hanging yarn ends and catch them under the tape as you wrap the tape around and downward on the pen. If the tape isn’t sticky enough to stay permanently use hot glue with it. If you don’t have enough yarn ends to secure the flower firmly, thread a large needle with a few inches of the center color yarn, run a stitch up and down in the flower center and clip yarn leaving both ends hanging 2″ to catch under tape. Make 7 flower pens.

Fill the pot with beans almost to the top and arrange the pens sticking into it. Enjoy!
